Natalie Taylor Herrick, Managing Director of Taylor Herrick Recruitment

Getting to know the ‘person’ behind the business, Amanda set some interesting questions to dig deeper and find more about Natalie:

‘You founded Taylor Herrick Recruitment in 2008.  What encouraged and motivated you to set up a recruitment business?’ Redundancy. After going for a couple of interviews I realised I didn’t want to work for other organisations who didn’t share the same values. I wanted to recruit the right way, with good ethics.

‘Throughout your life, who has been your inspiration?’ My parents and my Uncle.

‘What is the first thing you notice when you meet a client or candidate?’ Presentation and a smile?

‘Can you recommend a good book to take on holiday this year?’ Me before you by Jojo Moyes, a tear jerker! Also, One Day by David Nicholls. Great beach reads!

‘What three goals do you endeavour to accomplish this year?’

1.     Work Life Balance

2.     Business Growth / Contract Success

3.     New car!

‘Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?’

Gareth

‘What do you like most as well as least about your job?’

  • Most; Independence, the ability to develop my business in line with my own ethics, making a difference in a sector I’m very passionate about.
  • Least; Making decisions!!…. I rely on business Associates (IRG) and a mentor for support, before usually going with what feels right.

‘What is the most played song on your Ipod?’

Its on shuffle, If I’m listening to it in the gym then something like Rihanna or Cheryl Cole but if at home or in the car its something like Coldplay, Kings of Leon or Stereophonics…. depends on my mood……

‘Do you have a favourite quote?’

I love quotes and I like different ones each day depending on my mood.

‘Be the best you can be’ but todays favourite, which was on my calendar this morning was: ‘Think like a leader, walk like a winner, smell like success’

‘What event are you most looking forward to in the remaining 2012?’

Holidays!!

‘If you can choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?’

Probably someone like Michelle Mone.

‘When you have a bad day at work, it is usually because…’

I’m not focused enough or not getting the results I want!

‘If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?’

Speak Spanish

‘In your own opinion, what is your worst characteristic?’

Too sensitive, I take things too personally.

‘Since starting your own business in 2008, what has been your biggest lesson learnt?’

Always go with your gut and don’t trust too easily. Learn from your mistakes.

‘When you have a few hours of free-time, how do you pass the time?’

Sitting in the sunshine if possible.

‘What would you name the autobiography of your life?’

‘Guess what….?’

‘Where do you want to be in five years from now?’

Successfully running THR; developing existing sectors, new contracts on board with a committed and loyal team supporting me.

‘Complete this sentence:’

Happiness is… love, success, achievements, friends, family & sunshine of course!
